Cx72 Editorial: Harlequinade
August 29, 2016
In this editorial, Cixous72 co-owners Mira Moore & M. Elizabeth Scott pair together pieces from designers Eva Marie Nelson, Daimorf, and Women’s History Museum in an eclectic evocation of 19th century British theatre – as well as over-the-top contemporary theatrical depictions of Victorian life. Inspired in equal parts by the cockney costumery of My Fair Lady and descriptions of Thomas Hardy’s fictional Tess of the d’Urbervilles, the resultant looks represent a playful take on historical fashion and its dramatization.
